Cellular Automaton | Sonification and visualisation
MI-2026-CAS
Concept
A cellular automaton is a mathematical model used to simulate complex systems. Think of it as a digital grid where each square (called a cell) acts as a basic unit of computation.
Combining sound and visuals creates an environment to understand such systems in various ways.
Often cellular automata are used to show the principles of the evolution of a population over generations. Translating this long-lasting process into a different media allows a new way of understanding populations as a system of generations and the dependence of them.
